Looking to pursue a career where you can make a real impact, while also serving your community? The Nebraska Department of Transportation is where you’ll accomplish that and much more. Our Good Life, Great Journey Scholarship Program is how we invest in you and help Grow Nebraska. This program provides scholarships to individuals pursuing one of the approved technical degrees, at a partnering technical college while obtaining hands-on experience by working part-time as an intern for NDOT. Individuals selected for the scholarship will be awarded up to 100% paid tuition, books, fees, tools, housing expenses, and a paid internship with NDOT. Upon the successful completion of the degree program, there will be opportunities for full-time employment with NDOT.

 

Applications will be accepted until April 15, 2024.

Travel reimbursement to and from your residence to your NDOT headquarters

A paid internship at one of the NDOT headquarter locations

Upon completion of the program there will be an opportunity for full-time employment at an NDOT location statewide

  • Diesel Technology

  • Electronics Systems/Electrical Technology

  • Land Surveying/GIS/Civil Engineering Technology

 

 

  • Drafting/Design Technology

  • Engineering

  • Information Technology

Possible Technical Colleges include, but are not limited to:

 

  • Metro Community College

  • Northeast Community College

  • Southeast Community College

  • Central Community College

 

 

  • Mid Plains Community College

  • Western NE Community College

  • Iowa Western Community College

  • Wyotech

Required Qualifications:

 

  • Must be currently enrolled or plan to enroll in one of the approved technical programs at a partnering technical college.

  • Must meet all pre-enrollment/enrollment requirements of the technical college for which you are enrolled or plan to enroll.

  • Must be enrolled as a fulltime student and remain in good standing.

  • Must earn sufficient credit hours to graduate within 24 months of college enrollment.

  • Must be able to work as an intern part-time during the work week and during school breaks.

  • Must be actively engaged while interning and during the duration of your participation in the program.

  • Demonstrate strong organization, decision making, and problem solving skills.

  • Keen attention to detail, a high level of initiative, and ability to work well as a teammate and independently .

  • Punctual.

  • Showcase professional conduct in the workplace, the school, and beyond.
